I am really upset. I was in my mid 40's when I went for a Invisalign consultation so obviously cared how long this treatment would take.
I didn't want to go directly from braces to dentures
Anyway I was told my treatment time was 15 months and was given a price of $5000. fair enough.
AFTER this was agreed to and treatment had begun I was told there might be a 'fune tuning' needed at the end. Jaded as I am my BS flag went up.
Well my BS sensor was in working order.
My teeth on the bottom were still HORIZONTAL in places at the "end" of treatment and I was nowhere near finished. So I had to resubmit for impressions which were not done properly and had to be redone, plus a trip I took added 2 months to the treatment.
After that I was fiven another 5 (?) or so months of aligners and told I would be done 3-07.
WRONG! Once again I am not done. I have some very crooked bottom teeth and one is still far behind the others on the bottom front. It also sticks up higher and is obviously not a good cosmentic result.
I am mad as heck to be deceived like this and that is what I feel was done.
I am not sure what can be done but I did not agree to 2 1/2 years of braces which this is going to be.
Please tell me if this is typical.
Also do you think being older made them concerned I would buy the product if they told me the truth WHICH IS WHAT I BELIEVE AT THIS POINT.
Grrr....

I was in the same situation. I wore Invisalign for 3 1/2 years (started in 2003 - my treatment was suppose to be 24 months). After many problems/issues I wanted to meet with Invisalign. They resused!!! So I contacted Align Technology myself. To make along story short, I went to an Orthodonist who in 9 months has done more than Invisalign did in 3 1/2 years. The Orthodonist told me I wasn't a good candiate for Invisalign. I'm in my early 50's for I understand all that you are going through. BTW, I should be getting my braces off this spring. | | Poor Taste?

If you weren't a good candidate, why did they issue them to you? I would contact the better business bureau and also ask for my money back! | | Poor Taste?

The problem is that Invisalign can be done by any dentist with no real orthodontic knowledge. These problems would almost certainly be avoided if you went to a specialist orthodontist, and in addition was "platinum" user. Thatis an orthodontist who understands how o move teeth, and who does a lot of Invisalign. This is becoming a real issue as Invisalign certifies any denstist who does a half day course, and convinces these dentists it is easy and anyone can do it. Unfortunately this is not the case. It is a brilliant system, but you need a practioner who is an orthodontist and who specialises in Invisalign | | Poor Taste?

The only way I was able to resolve my issues was to contact the CEO of Invisalign who had their customer service people conatc me. Then after battling with them for 6 weeks I contacted the CEO again who I told they were leaving me little choice expect legal action. This finally got things resolved.
While Invisalign might be fine for some, I would never recommend them to anyone. As much as I hated to go to a real orthodonist and where real braces, the orthodonist has done more in 10 months than Invisalign did in 3 years. | | Poor Taste?

From your story, one can't tell if the problem is the treating dentist or the use of Invisalign. Even with conventional braces, the same story sometimes happens. | | Poor Taste?
