Back in the day I had a root canal on a molar and had a crown put on it. I had the crown replaced 3 years ago and it failed basically. The post is broken and my dentist said that I need to have the tooth pulled and two choices, a bridge (which I am not too keen on) or an implant. I am opting for the implant but I am worried that my insurance will not cover the whole thing. I have up to $2500 coverage per year which they will cover 65% of implants. I was thinking of getting the tooth pulled out next month, let it heal and then get the implant next year. I was quoted by the surgeon on the phone about $2500-3000 depending if I need bone replacement. I go to see him on the 20th so he can take x rays so I won't know for sure but his receptionist said that that price does not include the restoration of the implant, he doesn't do that. She said that is a couple of thousand of dollars-this doesn't sound right. I don't have the money for all this right now but I was thinking that maybe I could use a flipper for now until I am ready to put the implant in, but after the implant, can you still use the flipper until I can have the crown part put on? Its the second to last molar-you probably can't see it if I smile but I don't think I can stay that long with out a tooth. I am too self conscience for that. So my question is-does the restoration cost that much? How long can you go with a flipper and how much does that cost? If I have the implant done in Jan and then wait until the following year to have the resoration done, will that do more damage? I don't think my insurance will cover that much in a year and I don't want to have to pay alot for one tooth! Thanks!
